  • It is responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation and evaluation of parish liturgies, under the direction of the parish priest. The ministry oversees all activities associated with public worship (liturgies)

    Activities Of The Liturgical Committee Here At CCA, Ori-Oke are:

    1. Assist in planning for Advent Retreat, Lenten Retreat and any other Parish Retreat
    2. Coordinate all liturgical arms in preparation for Holy week
    3. Plan for Corpus Christi procession together with the Devotional Committee
    4. Assist in preparation for Group wedding (the liturgical aspect)
    5. Coordinate the preparation for End of the Month Adoration and the Quarterly Rosary Procession
    6. Assist in other parish liturgical activities ( Mass, Benediction, plus the celebration of the other sacraments )

    Guidelines For The Liturgical Committee
    1. The liturgical processions that occur annually should be planned in full consultation with the parish priest. The path for the annual Palm Sunday procession is already known; it is the path we follow annually. It is a short procession since Mass will follow immediately afterwards. The annual Corpus Christi procession is longer. The path will always be determined as the day approaches. The parish priest should be consulted with suggestions.
    2. It is the prerogative of the Parish Priest to select the theme and resource priest for the annual Parish Advent, Lenten retreats or any other parish retreat. However, if there are suggestions that maybe useful and helpful in enhancing parishioners’ participation at parish retreats, such should be made known in good time.
    3. Practices within the liturgical assembly ( during Sunday Masses or other church programs) that negatively impact collective worship should be reported with proper statistics or data that show the actual state of things ( not just some isolated cases here and there or something based on hearsay).

    Activities of Faith Formation / Education Committee here at CCA, Ori-Oke are:

    1. Oversee the catechetical preparation for Baptism at Easter / First Holy Communion at Easter and Corpus Christi
    2. Oversee the catechetical preparation for the monthly Infant Baptism
    3. Oversee the catechetical preparation for Confirmation at Pentecost
    4. Oversee the catechetical preparation for Group wedding ( whenever it is planned ) and regular wedding
    5. Plan for the Annual National Catechetical Week in October at the parish level with the catechists
    6. Plan for the Annual Family Week Celebration at the parish level together with Family Life Unit of the parish
    7. Organise Summer/Holiday educational Classes in conjunction with any other interested parish group.

    Guidelines For Faith Formation / Education Committee
    1. Visit Catechumens on Saturdays and Sundays during their catechism classes. Make appropriate recommendations to the parish priest where necessary.
    2. Ensure that the parish catechetical calender/guidelines are followed strictly as well as the Lagos Archdiocesan catechetical syllabus.

  • Receives its general mandate from the Archdiocesan Evangelisation Commission and coordinates and promotes all parish Evangelisation activities and initiatives.

    Activities Of The Evangelisation Committee here at CCA, Ori-Oke are:

    1. Work with the Parish Priest to organise Parish Evangelisation Outreach every Quarter (Missio Ad Gentes )
    2. Organise a bi-monthly parish revival programme
    3. Organise Parish Life in the Spirit Seminar every year
    4. Organise an Annual Parish Evangelisation and Discipleship Training ( with catechists and societal heads in attendance )
    5. Organise and prepare parishioners for Archdiocesan pilgrimages and other Archdiocesan Pastoral / Outreach Activities and Evangelisation Programs.
    6. Disseminate materials and information from the Archdiocesan Evangelisation Commission or from the office of the Archbishop as directed by the Parish Priest.

    Guidelines For The Evangelisation Committee
    1. Publcise the guidelines for the quarterly parish evangelisation outreach. Make announcements concerning the outreach at least for a month ahead of time. Create maximum awareness and arouse the interest of parishioners in the outreach. In all, discuss with the Parish Priest on how best to proceed.
    2. Draw-up a roster for the one month announcement regarding the quarterly evangelisation. Ensure that only members of the committee who are good in public speaking are on the roster for the public announcements for the sake of effective communication.
    3. Discuss with the Parish Priest at least two months before the next outreach on how to get new evangelisation flyers (tracts) ready. Strategise on how to distribute the flyers in the church on the day of the outreach.
    4. Map-out areas to be visited ahead of every evangelisation outreach and share the information with the Parish Priest. Share this information with parishioners on the day of the outreach itself during the announcement .
    5. Get the evangelisation tags for committee members ready ahead of every outreach.
    6. Ahead of the bi-monthly parish revival, discuss with the Parish Priest on the theme or topics for the two-day or three-day revival as well as on the resource persons to be invited not excluding the praise/worship singer and instrumentalists.
      Discuss at length the annual Life in the Spirit Seminar and Discipleship seminar with the Parish Priest and have a solid plan for each year. Determine the dates, duration, resource persons and other logistics involved. Early preparation is better. By the last quarter of each year, determine the date for the next Life in the Spirit Seminar. Ensure the Parish Priest is in agreement with all the plans and preparation.

  • Consists of the vice-chairpersons and faith formation / education officers of the members of the societies, associations and groups whose primary charism is prayerful devotions.

    Activities Of Devotional Committee here at CCA, Ori-Oke are:
    1. Organise the annual parish Christmas Carols together with the liturgical committee
    2. Organise May/October Devotion as well as Rosary Procession on 31st October
    3. Organise Pentecost Novena
    4. Organise Assumption Novena
    5. Plan the annual Corpus Christi Procession together with the liturgical committee
    6. In all, consult and work with the parish priest.

    Guidelines For Devotional Committee
    1. Meet with the Parish Priest at least one month ahead of May/October devotion as well as Pentecost / Assumption Novenas respectively and discuss how to get the roster and the altar announcements ready.
    2. Dicuss at your meetings how to mobilize parishioners to participate actively in the May / October devotions as well as in the Assumption and Pentecost Novenas. Carry the Parish Priest along before executing any strategy for mobilizing parishioners.
    3. Ask the Parish Priest for the prayer format for the May / October devotions as well as the Pentecost / Assumption Novenas. Make copies of the prayer format available, both hard and soft copies. Do well to paste copies on the notice board inside the Church.
    4. Keep a record of attendance at every devotion and novena.

  • Coordinates all organizations involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the social justice ministry of the parish, reaching out to the needy, the poor and marginalised within and without the parish community.

    Activities Of Welfare And Social Action Committee here At CCA, Ori-Oke are:

    1. Coordinate the annual Christmas / Lenten charity for parishioners
    2. Organise skills Acquisition / Empowerment Programmes for parishioners
    3. Carry out other social justice related programmes / activities (as indicated or approved by the parish priest ).

    Guidelines For the Welfare / Social Action Committee
    1. The committee should prepare a fresh list of needy parishioners ahead of any sharing whether during Lent or at Christmas. Announcements to that effect could be made during Sunday Mass so that fresh lists could be generated. Kindly ensure the Parish Priest is carried along fully.
    2. The day and time for both the Lenten and Christmas Charity should be discussed with the Parish Priest before the parish calender for the year is released. This should be done in the last quarter of the year.
    3. The committee should make general appeals during Sunday Masses asking societies / groups and individual parishioners to donate both cash and non-perishable food items towards the Lenten / Christmas Charity. The non-perishable items needed could be listed inorder to guide what people will donate.

  • Consists of the structured efforts to promote the spirit of community in the parish through Small Christian Communities and in communities based on residence, gender, age and profession who come together to solve their common problems in and outside the parish or to contribute their professional expertise to be more effective witnesses of Christ in their corners of the world.

    This includes consistent and planned efforts to strengthen relationships among parishioners thereby fostering a truly hospitable christian atmosphere.

    They are also to reach out to new and inactive members and involve them in their communities.

    Activities Of The Community Building Committee here at CCA, Ori-Oke are:

    1. Plan for the annual Parish Galilee Day Celebration
    2. Operate an Information Desk every Sunday
    3. Visit bereaved, inactive and seriously sick parishioners
    4. Coordinate Basic Christian Communities
    5. Carry out any other parish community-based assignment given to the committee.

    Guidelines For Community Building Committee
    1. Every Sunday at Mass, there is an on-going announcement calling on parishioners to give information regarding bereaved, sick or lukewarm members of the parish at the Information Desk. The information received will enable this committee carry out its function of visiting parishioners. It equally becomes easier for the Parish Priest to carry out any visit that requires his attention.
    2. The committee’s visit should be organized as soon as possible but not later than one week and such should be carried out in the name of and on behalf of the parish. This should be made clear to the person or family being visited. At least two committee members should make a visit. But more, will be better.
    3. A visitation book should be kept where the details of visits are recorded.
